The Long Trip Home
We left Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort on Friday. We stopped at Angels Car Care on our way out of Mission to have the Motor home inspected. All was well and Angel put the sticker on for us and we hooked up the car in the parking lot. However, when we checked the lights we found that Scotty had wired them backwards and when he turned on the right directional on the motor home, the left directional on the car came on. It took a few minutes to change the wires, but we had a good laugh over it.
We drove to Encino Grande RV Park in Goliad, a small "Mom & Pop" campground. It's Passport America and was great for the price of $15 for Full Hook Up/ pull-thru. There are about 15 sites. Only about 8 were taken. Bette was very sweet and we would stop again if we are looking for a 1 night stop in the area. She told me that they grass was high because she never mows until the wildflowers are gone.

Today we drove to Oakwook, TX and found a small campground right on Rt. 79. Well, actually it's between 79 and the railroad tacks! oh well..... guess we won't get much sleep tonight.
The wildflowers along the way were amazing.

Happy New Year!
New Years Eve at Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort was a blast! We had a great DJ that kept us on the dance floor all night long.
I had to work at Guest Services on New Years Day from 8 - 12. That's when our new friends Trent and Teresa pulled in for a 2 night stay here.
What a joy it has been to get to know them both. Jim & Linda came down and the 6 of us had a nice dinner together before walking up to the Clubhouse for an ice cream social.
Today (Monday Jan. 2nd) Trent, Teresa, Scotty and I went for a nice bike ride in the State Park. The sun was so warm that we did a little hiking and got to chat as we walked.
We had made plans with Jim and Linda to go to Hayashi but we ran late and they were closed so we went to Koybi which is a new restaurant here in Mission. It was a good second choice. We all ate too much and the sake was good too.
Tonight Trent & Teresa came by and we split a small bottle of wine and talked. Scotty told some of his "stories" and we all laughed a lot.

What a Summer
Once upon a time (long, long ago) we had our home in West Haven, Vermont.
It was a big house filled with all manor of things. Big things, small things, old things and new things too.
One night in Feb. of 2001 our home, with all those things, caught fire. Our big house and all our things (large and small, old and new were gone ..........................................................
......................................................................................................................................
To make a long story short, we sold the land and held the mortgage. This turned out to be not such a good idea. Things happen to people over and time and over time the new owners were unable to meet their payments and we were forced to foreclose.
We found that there was a lot of cleaning up to do.
These are only a few of the areas we were facing. And, yes, those are cow skulls. Don't even ask......
So we set about clearing the trash and junk. Cutting, pulling mowing raking and burning brush.
And after many long days and much hard work things are starting to shape up.

Back in Lake George, NY
On Sat. we all walked along the river walk to Corn Hill and had lunch at Subway. It was a bright sunny & warm day and it was good to get out of the hotel for a while.
Mark, Kathy & Billy met us in Rochester at 4:30 so we could have dinner together before the big Finally which started at 8PM.
The opening number was upbeat and fun. Performed by all the girls in 3 age groups.
Then the girls changed into their gowns for the award ceremony.
.
Charlotte had a good weekend and was very pleased with Grace's achievements.
On Sunday we drove home to Lake George. The trip seemed very long and we were all happy to get out of the car when we got home.

Gracie won the award for 1st Runner Up in the talent portion. (making her eligible to compete in the optional contests at the National competition in California. We're not sure yet if she will be going or not this year.) What an honor for her! She was also approached by a women that works with the New York City Ballet who thinks she is very gifted and should have the best teachers. This was her first ever solo!

Friday - National American Miss Contest
We stuck close to the Hyatt Regency where we are staying and the competition is being held. Gracie had a full day of activities.

This afternoon from our window I watched the Blue Angles practice for the Rochester Air Show that starts tomorrow.
Scotty was Gracie's escort for the evening gown competition. They both looked great all dressed up. It was a special night for all of us.
As you can tell, we aren't too proud of her.
