Floating Mill Recreation Area at Center Hill Lake, TN

On Sept. 7th we drove about 200 miles west from Asheville, NC to Center Hill Lake in TN.  Our good friends Don & Jeni Wilson are workcampers at Floating Mill Recreation Area Campground.
Since it is later in the season and the volunteers are no longer working here we were able to stay on the site next to them with full hookups.  (the rest of the campsites have water and power only).

We left our friends and TN today.  We are looking forward to Nov. when we will again see Don & Jeni when they meet us at Bentsen Palm Village Resort in Mission, TX, where we will all be workcampers together.

The Great Smoky Mountains & Waynesville, NC

On Sunday we drove to Asheboro, NC to meet Chris, Michaleann & Gwennie at the the NC Zoo.
We had a great day.  The zoo is large (5 miles)  and very clean with large areas for the animals.

On Wednesday we drove about 168 miles west of Salisbury to Waynesville, NC and settled ourselves in at Trails End RV Park.  It's a Passport America Park so we got a good price.  We will stay here 3 nights.  (Leaving on Sat.)

This is a very quite park, on a back road with little traffic.  Everyone is friendly (more of that southern hospitality).   However, the best thing about this park is that it is close to Maggie Valley where Scotty's sister Lynne and her husband Dan live in the summer.

Last night we got a pizza and drove into the Great Smoky Mt National Park to Cataloochee and watched these elk.

Outter Banks, NC

We were busy the first part of August getting everything in VT put away and the Motor Home ready to leave on the 15th.

We drove to Bob & Sue's near Salisbury arriving on Friday, spent Sat. packing the car and Sunday drove to Kill Devil Hills, to spend the week at the beach with our family.
We had a wonderful time.  The weather was perfect.  The kids were well behaved and happy.  The adults were well supplied with food and drinks.   We couldn't have asked for more.

Winchester, VA

About 300 miles farther north we stopped in Winchester, VA.
Pat & Vern are here for 6 weeks and we couldn't pass up the chance to spend another couple of days with them.
We stayed at  Candy Hill Campground for 2 nights.  It's a Good Sam's park.  We were reminded of how expensive everything is the farther north we got.  It was a nice park, but we are spoiled from living in South Texas.

This Angry Bird is actually a large round hay bale

When we got home this is what I found when I opened my closet.  Must have been that shirt I bought in VA. LOL!

So, Scotty had another job to do...

We added a shelf.  It's much better now.  I'm glad it broke. (shhh)

We arrived in West Haven, Vermont on Monday.  The grass was a foot high.  Scotty got the mower going and started cutting.

The first time in 3 years that I have been here when the lilacs were in bloom.

I made this wreath to put on my Dad's grave for Memorial Day.

North Carolina

We spent a night in Fair Play, SC at Carolina Landing which is part of the 1000 campgrounds resorts.  The sites are privately owned and some are put in a pool to be rented out.  The  ones at this campground were not anything to make you want to purchase one.  Ours was small and slanted.  But we were able to set up and it worked out fine for the 1 night we were there.

Chris & Michealann met us for lunch in Asheboro.  It was a wonderful visit.

We plan to leave here on Friday.
