Louisville, KY

This morning we did a few small projects inside and outside of the motor home.  We enjoyed the clear blue sky and the songs of all the robins and other birds that are here at Grandma's.
We had lunch with our friends Donna & Dale Short at a local Fish Place.  We had a great lunch as we sat outside in the sunshine.
After lunch Dale drove us down to Fort Knox.  Well, down past Fort Knox anyway.  You can't actually go there.  I snapped this picture on the fly.

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird, it's a plane, NO- It's Superman!

Superman, able to leap tall buildings with a single bound
Faster than a speeding bullet.  More powerful than a locomotive.
Superman, who disguised as Clark Kent (mild mannered reporter for the Daily Planet) fights a never ending battle for TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY!

From Metropolis, IL we went to Paducah, KY to see the murals on the flood wall.  Here are just a few.

The Long Trip Home

We left Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort on Friday.  We stopped at Angels Car Care on our way out of Mission to have the Motor home inspected.  All was well and Angel put the sticker on for us and we hooked up the car in the parking lot.  However, when we checked the lights we found that Scotty had wired them backwards and when he turned on the right directional on the motor home, the left directional on the car came on.  It took a few minutes to change the wires, but we had a good laugh over it.

We drove to Encino Grande RV Park in Goliad, a small "Mom & Pop" campground.  It's Passport America and was great for the price of $15 for Full Hook Up/ pull-thru.  There are about 15 sites.  Only about 8 were taken.  Bette was very sweet and we would stop again if we are looking for a 1 night stop in the area.  She told me that they grass was high because she never mows until the wildflowers are gone.

Today we drove to Oakwook, TX and found a small campground right on Rt. 79.  Well, actually it's between 79 and the railroad tacks!  oh well..... guess we won't get much sleep tonight.
The wildflowers along the way were amazing.

Happy New Year!

New Years Eve at Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort was a blast!  We had a great DJ that kept us on the dance floor all night long.

I had to work at Guest Services on New Years Day from 8 - 12.  That's when our new friends Trent and Teresa pulled in for a 2 night stay here.
What a joy it has been to get to know them both.  Jim & Linda came down and the 6 of us had a nice dinner together before walking up to the Clubhouse for an ice cream social.
Today (Monday Jan. 2nd)  Trent, Teresa, Scotty and I went for a nice bike ride in the State Park.  The sun was so warm that we did a little hiking and got to chat as we walked.
We had made plans with Jim and Linda to go to Hayashi but we ran late and they were closed so we went to Koybi which is a new restaurant here in Mission.  It was a good second choice. We all ate too much and the sake was good too.
Tonight Trent & Teresa came by and we split a small bottle of wine and talked.  Scotty told some of his "stories" and we all laughed a lot.

We traveled into WV yesterday and stayed at the COE park at Sutton Lake. It was a nice park, but it was about 10 miles off the beaten path. And in WV the beaten path is very hilly and curvy. But it was another day of beautiful foliage.
